October US chicken exports were 12.2% larger than last year and the biggest for any month this year despite a 22% decline in trade with Russia. Interestingly, US chicken exports to China/Hong Kong during October were 11.3% more than 2007 and the largest since May. Strong export interest is reported for January which may be countries trying to accumulate inventories ahead of an intensified slowdown in US chicken production. The chicken wing markets continue to firm and additional wing market increases are expected during the next several weeks.
